The first World Cup race on Spanish soil since Igorre in 2011 was right up Fem van Empel's (Jumbo – Visma) alley. She made it ahead of compatriots Puck Pieterse (Alpecin – Deceuninck) and Shirin van Anrooij (Baloise Trek Lions).
