The Zonhoven World Cup promises even more atmosphere in the mythical Kuil
Tuesday 30 December 2025
Do you want to be there when Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel face each other one last time this cyclo-cross winter? Then be sure to head to Zonhoven this Sunday for an absolute classic on the cyclo-cross calendar. An extra DJ and speaker will also create even more atmosphere in the legendary Kuil during the ninth round of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup.
Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert will cross swords one last time in the mud this Sunday. The world champion is stringing together victories in the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup just like last year, while Van Aert is still searching for his first World Cup win of the season after a seventh place in Antwerpen and a sixth in Dendermonde. With Belgian champion Thibau Nys also on the start line, all of the so-called Big Three will be present.
In the women’s race, 2024 winner Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado will once again go head-to-head with Lucinda Brand. The leader of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup has won seven of the eight rounds so far, but has never managed to win in Zonhoven. In fact, each of the past seven editions has produced a different winner in the women’s race.
Goosebumps in the Kuil
When you say Zonhoven, you immediately think of the mythical Kuil. Lap after lap, the decibel meter shoots up as riders plunge down through the sand, and this Sunday will be no different. An extra DJ and speaker will further boost the atmosphere in the Kuil. Goosebumps guaranteed.
In addition to the enhanced fan experience in the Kuil, spectators can traditionally dance the day away in the party tent. This year, DJ Kurt Lemmens (12:00–16:00) and DJ Duo Vrunj (16:30–18:30) will provide the beats.
