World champion Alvarado wins last race in Overijse

After an exciting race on a challenging course world champion Alvarado was able to keep Lucinda Brand at a distance in the final lap. She took the win in Overijse in the final race of the World Cup. Manon Bakker completed the Dutch stage with a third place.

Marianne Vos (Jumbo-Visma) speeds off at the start of the race. Soon she is accompanied by world champion Alvarado (Alpecin-Fenix) who puts pressure on the rest of the pack together with Vos. Vos cannot keep up the pace and gets company of Betsema (Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal) and world cup leader Brand (Baloise Trek Lions).

In the last but one lap Alvarado and Brand part say their goodbyes to Bakker and Betsema and start the final lap together. Then Alvarado accelerates after the pit area and is able to keep her lead in an exciting descent. She ends up finishing solo in Overijse.

20 seconds later Brand sprints to the second place, and maintains leader in the general ranking of the World Cup. Bakker joins the two on the stage in a third place in this final race of the UCI World Cup Cyclo-cross 2020-2021.
