Strong Iserbyt wins opening race in Waterloo

In a warm and rainy Waterloo, the elite men had their turn in the opening round of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup today. The race broke open early on after a breakaway by Hermans and Vanthourenhout, but a surprisingly strong Iserbyt, who got off to a slower start due to technical problems, was able to win the race on American soil.

Val di Sole and Rucphen to complete 2021-2022 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup calendar

The new format of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup will be rolled out for the first time this winter. With the number of rounds extended to 16, athletes and fans can look forward to a dynamic and full calendar combining established prestigious events and new arrivals to the international cyclo-cross series. Continuing tradition, the 2021-2022 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup will start in the United States, in Waterloo on 10 October. With the announcement of the final two venues - Val di Sole (Italy) and Rucphen (the Netherlands) - the calendar is now complete.

16 races in 2021-2022 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup

Tonight, the UCI announced the calendar for the 2021-2022 UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup. A total of 16 races are scheduled, three of which in the United States. Just like the five races that took place last winter, classics such as Koksijde and Hoogerheide also got their new date. Van Aert wins today’s race and general ranking

Just like during today’s women’s race, the men in Overijse also gave us a spectacular event. Belgian champion and overall leader in the World Cup Wout van Aert took home the win. He won from world champion Van der Poel with a lead of 1’03”. Pidcock finished third.
