In the women’s race, Van Anrooij cycled solo to victory in the twelfth round of the 2022-2023 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup. After an absolutely thrilling first half, Van Anrooij was able to strengthen her lead in the second half of the race. She beat Pieterse and Van Empel.

In the mud in Gavere, we had a real battle of the titans. After a fantastic clash between the big 3, it was Mathieu van der Poel who triumphed. Wout van Aert finished second, with world champion Tom Pidcock taking third spot on the podium.

Dutch rider Shirin van Anrooij has given herself a nice Christmas present. In Gavere, she won her second World Cup round of the season finishing solo. On a tough and muddy course, she left behind her teammate Brand. Pieterse took third place on the podium.

Younited is a social sports organisation that uses sport to improve the welfare of the most vulnerable target groups in our society. On Monday 26 December, we have invited a number of riders from their cycling teams to the UCI World Cup round in Gavere. Kenny Van Houcke, head of Flanders at Younited Belgium, tells us something about the organisation.

Snow and ice created a spectacle in Italy’s Val di Sole. The unique surface gave European champion Vanthourenhout wings. He completed an impressive solo. The young Belgian Vandeputte and the Swiss Kuhn were almost as happy with their second and third places.

A white carpet of snow, we don’t see that often during the cyclo-cross season, but we did in Italy’s Val di Sole. There, the riders were able to show their skills on the ice. The technically strong Pieterse did so with bravura and she triumphed after a nice solo.

Wout van Aert has secured his first win of the season. The Belgian champion had to chase twice after bad luck, but decided the race with one acceleration on the penultimate lap. He makes it ahead of Sweeck and Pidcock.
